Jayacare 2019 in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

Indonesia, 27 June 2018

The series of earthquakes in Lombok, Indonesia in the recent year have had a devastating impact to the local community, destroying countless homes, community spaces and disrupting tourism activities, a key source of income.

Among others, schools were one of the critical public facilities that were seriously affected. The National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) estimates 606 schools in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) affected. More than 3,051 classrooms were damaged, 1,460 of it to a high degree. As part of trauma healing and returning normalcy to school-going activities, re-building schools was identified as a crucial part of the restoration process.

USG Boral responded to the call to humanity by refocusing Jayacare (USG Boral's CSR program) to this effort to uphold our community and social responsibility purpose. The identified project started with preliminary works beginning in March for the Sambik Bangkol Elementary School, Sambik Village, Gangga District, North Lombok.

The project was also an opportunity for the company to showcase the ease of use of our products, including the use of our seismic proof exposed ceiling system panels (Jaya Seismic).
